The photography exhibition GESELLSCHAFTSSPIELE features master students of James Higginson, artist and mentor at AVONBIEHL Studio for Photography and Video.

AVONBIEHL presents a strong, tough seminar program that means to challenge students and push them toward better critical thinking through techniques for staging and lighting photographic scenes. The AVONBIEHL seminars work to mold students into professionals who create dynamic photographs with purpose and distinction. The AVONBIEHL seminar program has small class numbers so we can create a personal one to one mentor-student relationship. This individual teaching approach helps us focus on the student, whether the student is interested in developing a career in fine art or commercial photography.

AVONBIEHL is interested in the relationships and connections between truth and reality. Reality, what it is and how we see it, perceive it, define it, use it, and how we discuss it in creating pictures. Whether we observe, capture, stage, re-present or project a reality, what is of interest is the distinction between what is and what could be.

kaleidoskop is planning an exhibition for February 2011 and hosting an open call.
The theme of the exhibition is:

identity in contemporary society, focusing on the degree of individual deformation. The personal/emotional experience of either adapting to or resisting social patterns is of importance, as well as the (un)altered self perception.
Deadline is October 3rd.
